Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.

Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 10.16

I’ve never done this before. Documenting my thoughts, that is. Reviewing in detail my journey through life. Yeah… this is definitely new territory for me. I’ve resisted journaling of any kind for a long time. Where do I even start? What do I even say? I used to have trouble starting essays and papers back in high school even when the topic was clear, the paper was scaffolded, and my hand was held through the whole process.

And yet… There is an enormous figurative mountain of very compelling evidence of the numerous benefits journaling has awarded those who practiced it; even if it is a somewhat anecdotal mountain. It’s intriguing that this habit of self-reflection and mindfulness was and is so common among the greatest of our history. Do they owe their greatness to journaling? Or was it merely a catalyst enhancing their greatness?

Curious musings… but I digress.

This is the beginning of self-inflicted wonderful journey of self-discovery and growth. I can only hope for edification and genuine improvement of who I am. Will it work for me? Well…

One test is worth a thousand expert opinions.

Let’s see how this goes.
